The Memorial to the Sinti and Roma Victims of National Socialism is a memorial in Berlin, Germany. The monument is dedicated to the memory of the 220,000 – 500,000 people murdered in the Porajmos – the Nazi genocide of the European Sinti and Roma peoples. It was designed by Dani Karavan and was officially opened on 24 October 2012 by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the presence of President Joachim Gauck.

  • This memorial is little bit harder to find, as it's pretty small. It's by the right wing (southern) of the Reichstag, on a park's pathway left side leading diagonal to the Brandenburg gate. It's...  more »
  • A lot of stones and a lot of names to remind us of some of the very many people who were identified by Hitler as not being suitable for his grand plan. Another very sobering reminder of a dark past.  more »

  • A poignant place because of its meaning and the explanations given. The pool surrounded by stones on which all the names of concentration camps are noted is upsetting. It pushes for reflection. I came out of this visit unsaised.
