Tempelhof Airport, Berlin

4.3
#18 of 191 in Museums in Berlin
Iconic due to the enormous canopied hangers that protected passengers from the elements when boarding or disembarking the plane, Tempelhof Airport is now Berlin's largest public park. The main terminal buildings and hangers play host to numerous events, conferences, and fairs, such as fashion tradeshows and concerts. The size makes this an ideal location for competitive sports, like the Berlin Marathon. Enjoy a day on the green and visit the massive architectural wonders that once represented the world's largest, most advanced airport. Keep your eyes open for species of birds, insects, and plant life that were close to being endangered, but have now begun to reclaim the airport's land. Put Tempelhof Airport and other Berlin attractions into our Berlin online trip itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Is one of the best tours I have ever attended, to much history in this place I would really suggest to take the private tour (no more than 8) because you can take it in a different hour and really.....  more »
  • Great tour of the airbase. I would highly recommend this tour, they use the full 2hours wisely. With a mixture of indoor/outdoor walks and discussions of the history and modern usage.  more »

  • A can't miss sight, that I somehow managed to miss the first two times I visited Berlin, Tempelhof is something you won't find anywhere else. Formerly the East Berlin airport, rather than renovate or tear it down, it's been largely converted to public and park space. It hosted the marathon expo, and is the perfect space for events. The main arrival hall is still there as are baggage claims, passport control, and of course the runways. The hangars host massive event space and the grounds are perfect for exploring green spaces and maybe even taking a picnic..
  • Loved the tour!!!! Amazing to see all the parts of the airport, interesting facts. Loved our guide. Order tickets online at least 24h before your tour, important to pickup tickets on the spot, before the start of your tour, to not lose your spot on the tour. Thank you so much for having this tour of this airport. Would definitely recommend to visit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
