  • The former "small" summertime cottage of one of the not so famous banker families Oppenheim is just a little bit smaller than the more famous but nearby Queens castle Charlottenburg but it's very beautiful house together with the close by park. In the last century the cottage was sold to some local businessmen which had been looked for a exhibition hall for all their collection of local artists. And this collection withstands all the history troubles the Germans did over the last century. House and collection were like a sleeping beauty until the locals find them and bring them back in the last decade of the last millennium. Now it's a very beautiful and stylish house with very fine character and understatement. Inside there is a nice show about local history at the ground level. But the more exciting show is the pictures gallery in the first floor! This is a collection of paintings and sculptures you can find in other more famous museums in Berlin too, but here is excellent too but less tourist ... sometimes you're alone and can enjoy the art and flair of the last century for your own pleasure ... it's really special feeling ... like wandering in abandoned rooms of the Tate modern in London alone with all the Turners, you've seen before. After your walk through you can have coffee and cake or more in the restaurant next door, very nice and well-visited by locals. Welcome to Charlottenburg in the big village Berlin.
  • Very recommendable for those who are interested in city planing. The entry is free, great pictures and very details informations!
