Mother House is the site of Mother Teresa's tomb and contains a small museum dedicated to the founder of the Missionaries of Charity. The simple white tomb is always covered with flowers and heartwarming messages written in yellow petals. See sandals and saris the humanitarian wore on her many missions, and visit the room in which she slept on a camp bed. Take a picture under the statue of Mother Teresa, holding a rosary in one hand and blessing the visitors with the other. Mother House reviews
The atmosphere here is so saintly. It's peaceful and calm. Perfect place for one to pray and reflect back to life more »
We went here to visit the small orphanage. This was very touching and emotional: 20 children all with Downs Syndrome who were abandoned. Time well spent. I was surprisingly touched by seeing Mother.... more »
It is easy to miss. Like the woman, the building is nondescript. The only way we noticed was the souvenir shops around it along with Google Maps. Inside was a small procession. There was a mixture of all cultures. I suspect people from all over the world come to volunteer or just being in the presence of her aura. The room where she was "called home" is perfectly preserved as it was on that day when she passed. Her marble tomb is in the church and offers a place for quiet meditation. There is a small museum beside with a collection of all the things she was given over the years. The whole experience is worth it.
Serve selflessly, Serve the Needy Service to Mankind is Service to God. Very few walk the talk, Blessed Teresa did. Hope we have many more such Mothers. Carry your own water bottle. The simplicity of this place is very obvious. I was very impressed with Blessed Teresa’s room. It had no fan! In some of the photos one can see the toes of Mother, even with such toes she walked and worked relentlessly.
