The imposing tiers of Toji, a World Heritage Site and a symbol of Kyoto, rise grandly over its surrounding gardens. The five-tiered temple, first built in 796, belongs to the Shingon sect of Buddhism. With an impressive 54.8 m (179.8 ft) height, this structure remains the tallest wooden temple in Japan. Note that visitors can't actually enter the pagoda, a privilege reserved for only a few special visitors each year. Then, they learn about exhibits at the Treasure Museum. Finally, I feel a different moramin in the garden at Kanchi-in. There is a person who explains it at a key point, too. It looks like a theme park that has been going on since the Heian period.

The prices are high in my opinion, the Buddha statues inside are impressive but we didn't really come for it. Maybe it's better to come in the evening (but it's even more expensive). In short a little disappointing.
I visited this place in spring at night-time. The cherry blossom tree and the toji building looked amazing together. There are also a lot of places to look around. They light up the whole place during spring time. A lot of local people and tourist were here together. I recommend visiting this place during summer.
I went during the flea market day (21st of every month) and enjoyed it a lot. I can imagine it's serene every other day of the mo the, but today it was packed with people and interesting food, pottery, and antiques Pagoda is 800 yen to get into. Toji is free.
