National Museum of Beirut survived the area's frequent conflict and adversity, preserving a diverse collection of archaeological objects. Opened in 1942, the museum exhibits roughly 1,300 artifacts excavated from the country's earliest prehistoric settlements and sites dating back to the more recent Mamluk dynasty. Roam across two floors of displays, stopping on the hour at the audiovisual room for a short film depicting the collection's preservation during the war years. Exhibits are displayed in English.
