A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sapporo: Otaru (JR Otaru Station & Otaru Canal), Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park (in Chitose) and Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery (in Yoichi-cho). There's lots more to do: walk around Odori Park, get outside with Okurayama Lookout, take some stellar pictures from Sapporo TV Tower, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Moiwa.
