Often referred to as Iceland's second city, Akureyri offers an array of cultural attractions in a scenic setting.
Change things up with a short trip to Grjotagja Cave in Reykjahlid (about 1h 10 min away). Sitting on the banks of the picturesque Olfusa River, the laid-back town of Selfoss provides a good location to relax and enjoy some of the country's natural delights.
Change things up with these side-trips from Selfoss: Faxi (Vatnsleysufoss) Waterfall (in Skalholt), Blaskogabyggd (Haukadalur & Gullfoss Falls) and Strokkur (in Geysir).
