Tokyo is known for historic sites, parks, and shopping. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: admire the natural beauty at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, ponder the world of politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, and take in panoramic vistas at Tokyo Skytree.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Hyakuri Airport. Expect a daytime high around 17°C in March, and nighttime lows around 7°C. On the 1st (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Ikebana Museum has been added to your itinerary. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Dotombori District (in Dotombori) and Himeji Castle (in Himeji). And it doesn't end there: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and don't miss a visit to Heian Shrine.

Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): see the interesting displays at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, steep yourself in history at Peace Memorial Park - Hiroshima, and then steep yourself in history at Atomic Bomb Dome. Here are some ideas for day two: steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine, head off the coast to Miyajima, and then step into the grandiose world of Hiroshima Castle.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Hiroshima can reach 22°C, while at night they dip to 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Hakone-machi.

Sitting at the foot of Mount Fuji, Hakone-machi has become a popular retreat from Tokyo for locals and tourists alike.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Wed): admire the masterpieces at Narukawa Art Museum, explore the activities along Lake Ashi (Ashinoko), and then hike along Hakone Stone‐paved Road.

You can do a combination of train and bus from Hiroshima to Hakone-machi in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. When traveling from Hiroshima in April, plan for a bit cooler days in Hakone-machi, with highs around 15°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Matsumoto.

A castle town, Matsumoto possesses one of the best-preserved feudal structures in the country, and maintains its historical attractions and traditions while simultaneously exuding a modern, cosmopolitan charm.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Shibu Onsen as well as Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. On the 9th (Thu), look for all kinds of wild species at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Suwa Shrine, thenmake a trip to Matsumoto Castle, thentake a stroll through Nawate Shopping District, and finally stop by Nakamachi Street. Keep things going the next day: indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at Shibu Onsen and then relax in the rural setting at Daio Wasabi Farm.

Traveling by car from Hakone-machi to Matsumoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Hakone-machi in April: highs in Matsumoto hover around 19°C, while lows dip to 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Fri) to allow time for the car ride to Takayama.
