The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
You've now added Ikebana Museum to your itinerary. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Himeji Castle (in Himeji) and Osaka (Dotonbori & Osaka Castle). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, wander the streets of Gion, make a trip to Heian Shrine, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple.

Sitting at the foot of Mount Fuji, Hakone-machi has become a popular retreat from Tokyo for locals and tourists alike.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Wed): don't miss a visit to Owaku-dani Valley, then get great views at Hakone Ropeway, and then admire the masterpieces at The Hakone Open-Air Museum. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: admire the masterpieces at Narukawa Art Museum, then explore the activities along Lake Ashi (Ashinoko), and then trek along Hakone Stone‐paved Road.

Take a train from Hiroshima to Hakone-machi in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Hiroshima in April: highs in Hakone-machi hover around 15°C, while lows dip to 13°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Matsumoto.

Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Shibu Onsen as well as Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. On the 10th (Fri), identify plant and animal life at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Suwa Shrine, explore the historical opulence of Matsumoto Castle, then take a stroll through Nawate Shopping District, and finally take a stroll through Nakamachi Street.
