Uzbekistan’s most glorious city, Samarkand, offers a fine combination of history and modern urban life.
On the 29th (Wed), contemplate the long history of Shah-i-Zinda, then appreciate the history behind Saint Daniel's Tomb, then look and learn at Ulugh Beg Observatory, and finally make a trip to Registan. On the next day, explore the different monuments and memorials at Gur Emir Mausoleum, admire the striking features of Ulugbek Madrasah, then explore the ancient world of Bibi-Khanym Mosque Bibi-Xonum, and finally gain insight at Tillya Kori Madrasah.

If you are flying in from Israel, the closest major airport is Samarkand Airport. In May, plan for daily highs up to 33°C, and evening lows to 18°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
