Naples is the capital of the Italian region Campania and the third-largest municipality in Italy after Rome and Milan. Take a break from Naples with a short trip to Paestum Ruins in Paestum, about 1h 25 min away. Next up on the itinerary: delve into the distant past at Pompeii Archaeological Park, steep yourself in history at Parco Acheologico di Ercolano, pause for some serene contemplation at Cloister of Santa Chiara, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Via Caracciolo e Lungomare di Napoli.

For photos, reviews, more things to do, and tourist information, you can read our Naples road trip planner.

Reykjavik, Iceland to Naples is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly; or do a combination of car and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Reykjavik to Naples. Traveling from Reykjavik in May, expect nights in Naples to be a bit warmer, around 17°C, while days are much warmer, around 27°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Mon) so you can take a bus to Positano.
