Reykjavik — 13 nights

Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.Venture out of the city with trips to The Cave People (in Laugarvatn), Blaskogabyggd (Gullfoss Falls & Haukadalur) and Strokkur (in Geysir). There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at National Museum of Iceland, explore the striking landscape of Thingvellir National Park, enjoy the sand and surf at Nautholsvik Geothermal Beach, and pause for some serene contemplation at Hallgrimskirkja.
To find other places to visit, more things to do, traveler tips, and other tourist information, go to the Reykjavik online travel route planner.
In September, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
Side Trips
Blaskogabyggd, Mosfellsbaer, Hellisgerdi Park, Thingvellir National Park, Faxi (Vatnsleysufoss) Waterfall
